THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Information provided by you

We may collect information using “cookie” technology. Cookies are small packets of data that a website places on your device to save your preferences and improve your site experience.

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

For our legitimate business interests

CHILDREN

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18. If you are under 18, please do not give us any personal information. By accessing our Sites or initiating any communication with us, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.

DO NOT TRACK

Some browsers may transmit Do Not Track (“DNT”) signals to websites with which the browser communicates. Given that there is currently no common industry or legal standard for interpreting these signals, our Sites do not currently respond to browser DNT signals. We will continue to monitor further developments around DNT browser technology and the implementation of a standard.

EXTERNAL WEBSITES

Our Sites may contain links to third-party websites. These third-party websites may collect information about you if you click on a link and may automatically record information about your browsing behavior every time you visit a site. We have no control over the privacy practices, or the content of these websites, and we are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of those third-party websites. Capitalised terms herein will have the corresponding meaning as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

POPIA regulates the Processing of Personal Information of South African Data Subjects. As such, the Processing of Personal Information by our South African office will be done in accordance with POPIA and in line with the principles reflected in this privacy policy.

It is important to note that POPIA provides for the protection of Personal Information of both natural and juristic persons. Therefore, in South Africa, Watchmaker may Process Personal Information of both natural persons and juristic entities. When doing so, we will ensure compliance with POPIA.

POPIA provides Data Subjects with a number of rights. These rights include:

  • the rights of access to your personal information, to request that your personal information be corrected and to object to the processing of your personal information;
  • the right not to have personal information processed for the purpose of direct marketing by unsolicited electronic communication;

For Chinese data subjects
The Personal Information Protection Law, 2021 (“PIPL”) regulates the processing of personal information of Chinese data subjects. As such, the processing of personal information by our Chinese office, as a personal information handler, will be done in accordance with the PIPL and in line with the principles reflected in this privacy policy.

Under the PIPL, you have the following rights:

  • right to access: You are entitled to make a request for access to your personal information that we process;
  • right to rectification: In cases of any error or incompleteness of personal information, you are entitled to request to the rectification of such personal information;
  • right to object/opt-out: You are entitled to object to our processing of your personal information. However, the exercise of this right depends on the facts of each case, the availability of our services to you and whether we have additional grounds to process your personal information;
  • right to data portability: You are entitled to request the transfer of your personal information to another, designated personal information handler;
  • right not to be subject to automated decision making: You are entitled to reject to the processing of your personal information that results in automated decision making.

In addition to the above, you may also request us to get a copy of your personal information and to restrict our processing of your personal information.
