Position Summary

Watchmaker is inviting applications for the full-time position of Product Manager or Senior Product Manager to support our NGS portfolio.

This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing, and will be responsible for ensuring continuous business success through new product development, expansion of the application scope, and proactive life cycle management with respect to our expanding NGS portfolio. The ideal candidate will also have a firm understanding of molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and advanced genomics applications.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the NGS portfolio expert and champion within the organization, with the ability to flex between the RNA and DNA portfolios as needed, including owning and growing parts of the portfolio, in collaboration with the commercial team
  • Synthesize market, customer, and sales feedback/intel to define customer and product requirements with associated prioritization
  • Partner with sales to engage with key customers and cultivate collaborations to drive innovative product solutions, penetrate key application areas and support broader product adoption
  • Responsible for creation of marketing collateral, campaign elements, and sales tools (in partnership with our marketing operations team) to convey the value proposition to target markets, support the sales process and the organization’s conference strategy
  • Manage all marketing facets of product commercialization and lifecycle management, inclusive of but not limited to market assessments, global pricing strategies, documentation, sales training, and demand planning
  • Manage cross-functional collaborations (R&D, Support, Sales, Quality, and Operations) to ensure successful implementation of product requirements and drive new product development to commercial launch
  • Support the execution of a multi-year product strategy and roadmap (in collaboration with R&D, commercial and leadership teams) for both new and on market product offerings for relevant application areas that include opportunity assessment, positioning strategy, financial analysis, and tactical plans to support successful product adoption
  • Support on-market product care and be a champion for product care initiatives required to meet/exceed customer’s forecast and requirements
  • Create and maintain competitive assessments, market trends, and product performance
  • Present to senior leadership in regular business reviews and marketing updates

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Results oriented, with the ability to multitask, work at a high standard, perform consistently under pressure along with pre-determined deadlines, and work without supervision
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high pressure, and dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as an effective member of a team

  • Proven ability to influence & gain consensus in cross-functional teams, and to work effectively with customers, development, and sales teams
  • The ability to innovate in ways to make complex offerings available through simple and controlled processes that meet established quality standards
  • Experience in presenting technical information to groups with various scientific backgrounds
  • Creative and critical thinking skills to anticipate customer needs and proactively solve problems
  • Track record of success defining and launching products
  • Experience in documenting customer/product requirements in a quality management system
  • Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as PCR/qPCR and next-generation sequencing
  • This position requires approximately 20% travel (domestic and international)

Education Requirements

  • MSc degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or an associated scientific field required
  • Minimum of 6 years industry relevant experience, including R&D
  • Product Management experience preferred and customer-facing roles considered a plus
  • Experience being part of new product development core team or project required

Compensation

The base compensation for the Product Manager, NGS role starts at $100,000 – $120,000 + bonus + equity; actual pay will be adjusted based on skills and experience. Employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off, Holidays, employer covers 75% of base medical plan with buy-up options, employer paid dental, employer paid vision, employer paid $25,000 life/AD&D policy, paid parental leave, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
