Position Summary

Watchmaker Genomics is inviting applications for the full-time position of Production Manager. Reporting to the Director of Operations the successful candidate will perform day-to-day production activities including but not limited to planning, scheduling, compliance implementations and people management. Additionally, this position is expected to assist in the building of a high performing manufacturing team and the design of new manufacturing facilities and processes.

Responsibilities

Production Process Management

  • Coordinate processes, equipment, materials and resources to plan for uninterrupted manufacturing of products to supply according to the demand schedule
  • Identify and communicate risk to the organization
  • Manage production cost and monitor variances within the production processes

Design, Build and Maintain

  • Collaborate in designing and building production facilities
  • Collaborate in selecting, testing and implementing appropriate production equipment
  • Collaborate in all troubleshooting efforts where required
  • Support in the maintenance of all equipment and facilities

Compliance

  • ISO 13485 certification implementation and maintenance
  • Manage and maintain submissions for any local compliance requirements
  • Manage and maintain all import/export compliance requirements
  • Manage and maintain all health and safety requirements

Leadership, Planning and Process Improvements

  • Support with the hiring and training of new employees
  • Support the development and growth of individuals
  • Support the development of a quality culture within the organization
  • Identify and implement improvements in production processes
  • Support the implementation of leader, standard, work (LSW) processes
  • Draft, revise, verify all relevant production key performance indicators
  • Draft, revise, verify the production budget

Additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant production management and planning experience in life sciences related environments or related industries
  • Advanced computer skills pertaining to the use of ERP/inventory management systems, Microsoft/Google spreadsheets and word processing software
  • Leadership and cross-functional team building
  • Advance scheduling, time management, and resource management
  • The ability to multitask, perform consistently under pressure and work without supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work as an effective member of a team

Preferred Experience:

  • Supervising or leading in a logistics, shipping/receiving or supply chain department
  • Inventory cycle counting and reconciliation
  • Working knowledge of/in:
    • Revising and publishing of work instructions
    • Basic understanding of ISO 13485 and experience working in an ISO compliant facility
    • import/export processes
    • technical writing
    • planning and design of production environments
    • implementing automated processes
  • Providing support in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with high-growth start-up environments
Education and Experience
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant life sciences discipline is required; an advanced degree (MS/MBA) is preferred
