Position Summary

Watchmaker is inviting applications for the full-time position of Director of OEM Strategic Accounts. This position reports to the Vice President of Sales and Commercial Development and will be responsible for driving sales growth across the company’s genomics product portfolio with an emphasis on NGS solutions. This individual will be responsible for developing OEM account planning, understanding the competitive landscape, developing strong commercial partnerships, and providing voice-of-customer across research and development, marketing, finance, and technical support.

Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with key innovative partners to identify synergies and opportunities to incorporate Watchmaker technologies into new product launches.
  • Initiate contact with key prospects to identify pain points and develop strategies to address prospects’ business needs, building long term relationships to enable Watchmaker early access to evolving assay development requirements
  • Pitch capabilities via custom tailored presentations to communicate unique selling propositions based on prospect needs and Watchmaker capabilities.
  • Assist in developing strategic OEM account maps and implement strategies and tactics to sell across key stakeholders to gain, maintain and expand wallet share
  • Follow effective sales process within CRM to maximize close rate and drive strong revenue growth within the territory
  • Respond to RFPs, write quotations, negotiate MSAs and other contractual agreements
  • Maintain an accurate forecast of both revenue and product demand across all accounts
  • Identify key unmet market needs and trends and partner with Leadership and Marketing to develop OEM product portfolio roadmap, contribute to go-to-market strategy
  • Work closely with custom development team to explore feasibility, prioritize, and develop effective custom proposals to gain commitments from customers for simple pack size customization as well as complex, custom enzyme development deals
  • Manage custom projects through to completion, including execution of custom product development tasks such as working with customers and internal teams to establish custom product specifications
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should have at minimum a BS in molecular biology, biochemistry or a related discipline, with at least five (5) years of relevant OEM sales experience selling DNA and RNA modifying enzymes and kits into commercial accounts such as NGS platform and tool developers, IVD Kit developers, and other B2B/OEM scenarios. Broad technical knowledge of DNA- and RNA-modifying enzymes and NGS technology is a requirement.

The following skills and experience are requirements for the position:

  • Excellent interrogation skills to uncover key client pain points and needs, as well identify emerging market trends and opportunities to capitalize as a nimble solution developer
  • Comfortable selling on value proposition highlighting technical development and large scale production capabilities, not simply a list of products
  • Independent with sufficient technical acumen to sell cutting edge molecular biology products without a field based application support team
  • Skilled at managing a complex sales process for products in the early stages of development, capturing critical customer and product requirements.
  • Advanced negotiation skills, familiarity with complex commercial agreements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively as an effective member of a team developing customized solutions for clients
  • Knowledge of ISO13485 quality standards and regulatory framework governing LDTs, IVD, and IVD-R.
  • Excellent organizational skills and intense attention to detail
  • Self motivated to perform consistently under pressure without supervision, and to consistently manage numerous high-priority projects at the same time
  • Flexible in nature to accommodate a fast-growing product portfolio and growth, adaptable to change
  • Adept at identifying market opportunities in highly technical and evolving applications
  • Fully competent in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems. Able to learn new technology programs
Education Requirements
  • BS with minimum 5 years genomics industry experience selling into commercial accounts, MS/MBA or PhD preferred.
Compensation

The base compensation for the Director of OEM Strategic Accounts role starts at $110,000-155,000 + bonus + equity; actual pay will be adjusted based on skills and experience.
